The Six

Affordable Housing for Veterans

Promise Energy collaborated with award-winning architect Angie Brooks of Brooks+Scarpa on the solar design for The Six Apartments. This project, by developer Skid Row Housing Trust provides permanent supportive housing to veterans experiencing homelessness.

“The Six” refers to military slang for “I’ve got your back”, and this stunning project is an amazing example of how supportive housing can change lives.

“Reducing overall energy consumption lowers the development's environmental footprint and creates operational benefits by reducing the ongoing utility costs. This in turn allows the Trust to increase the amount of services we can offer to residents at the Six.”

—Dana Trujillo, Chief Real Estate Officer at Skid Row Housing Trust

Promise Energy designed and installed a 16 collector solar water heating system that offset 2,150 therms of natural gas annually, saving money and reducing pollution equivalent to the CO2 emissions from burning 12,000 pounds of coal a year. This project received its LEED Platinum Certification from the US Green Building Council.
